Brenda Cochran is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Oregon. Her degrees include an MS in Counseling, a Masters in Health Education, and a BS in Family and Consumer Sciences from Oregon State University. In this EML, she will present the highlights of Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC), an empirically-supported training program designed to cultivate the skill of self-compassion.
Brenda has trained with Kristen Neff, Ph.D. and Christopher Germer, Ph.D., groundbreaking researchers and founders of MSC. She has been interviewed by Dani Reid, for the HealingHer podcast for trauma survivors, and has been invited by Will Roundy to lead a retreat on MSC in Joseph, Oregon.
This program teaches core principles and practices that enable participants to respond to difficult moments in their lives with kindness, care and understanding. Rapidly expanding research demonstrates that self-compassion is strongly associated with emotional wellbeing, lowered anxiety, depression and stress, and maintenance of healthy habits and satisfying relationships. Brenda is excited to share the three components of self-compassion: self-kindness, common humanity, and mindful awareness. These pillars open us to living a life of loving connected presence.
