Diversity, Equity, Inclusion Statement

Evergreen Behavioral Health Association (EBHA) stands in solidarity with BIPOC and gender diverse individuals and allies, and condemns the structural racism, classism, sexism, and gender bias woven into the fabric of our society. Within EBHA we are committed to being advocates of personal and collective healing. We believe in the dignity of all people and creating a culture where diversity is valued, rather than seen as a threat. We know that this is vital both in forming a safe and productive environment for clinician members, and in supporting the delivery of quality behavioral health services to the broader community.

EBHA’s organizational culture and reputation in the community are sustained by the collective sum of members’ individual differences, life experiences, knowledge, innovation, self-expression, unique capabilities, and talents. We respect and affirm the unique identity of each EBHA member, and aim to create an inclusive clinician community that is relevant and accessible, and that engages, challenges, and values the contributions of all clinicians. We pursue an organizational mindset that values cultural humility, recognition, and accountability.

We know that building and sustaining diversity, equity, and inclusion within EBHA requires a commitment from the board and from the membership. This DEI statement will guide the decisions of our board. Where EBHA involves itself with advocacy at the local, state, and/or federal levels, it will be done with an eye to promoting equitable means for the professional success of all mental health clinicians, and equitable access to mental health care resources for the communities we serve, direct benefit to the Lane County community through education and outreach that promotes wellness, emotional resilience, and the equitable and just treatment of all persons and groups.
